Three days before they were due to perform the song at the United Nations as part of "The Music for UNICEF Concert", The Bee Gees topped the US chart for the first of two weeks with "Too Much Heaven". The song was their contribution to the concept whereby major stars donated all earnings from designated songs to UNICEF, the U.N. agency dedicated to helping children around the world, a concept created to mark the International Year of he Child.
