The Beatles had their first hit since the death of their manager Brian Epstein when "Hello Goodbye" topped the British chart for seven weeks. It was their 13th UK no.1. Although credited to Lennon/McCartney, it was actually written by Paul and John didn't like it describing it as "three minutes of contradictions and meaningless juxtapositions".
