The Rolling Stones topped the British chart for one week with their recording of Willie Dixon's "Little Red Rooster". Their fifth single and second no.1, it was the last cover version to be released as a Stones single; their next single, ironically entitled "The Last Time", was the first Jagger-Richards composition to be released as one of their singles. Held up in second place was Gene Pitney's "I'm Gonna Be Strong".
