Having won their battle to have more control over their music and the right to play their own instruments on their recordings, The Monkees topped the US singles chart in their own right for the first of four weeks with "Daydream Believer". On the same day, their album "Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jones Ltd." topped the US album chart for the first of five weeks to make them the only act to have four no.1 albums in the same year. The others were "The Monkees", "More of the Monkees" and "Headquarters". Their albums spent a total of 28 weeks of that remarkably successful year at no.1.
