Astonishingly, seven weeks after being displaced from the top of the UK chart by Brian Poole & The Tremeloes' "Do You Love Me", The Beatles' "She Loves You" returned to the top to replace Gerry & The Pacemakers' "You'll Never Walk Alone" at no.1 for another two weeks. In the 13 weeks since it first entered the chart, it had never dropped out of the Top Three. Even after it was finally displaced by The Beatles' "I Want To Hold Your Hand" it spent a further three weeks at no.2. Ultimately, it was to spend a total of 18 weeks in the Top Three: six weeks at no.1, six weeks at no.2 and six weeks at no.3. The single set and surpassed several records in the UK charts, and set a record in the US as one of the five Beatles songs that held the top five positions in the American charts.
